A tale of teamwork, tea, and terrible ideas.
A reworking of the classic tale by the Brothers Grimm.
Once upon a time, a mouse, a bird, and a sausage lived together in a little cottage.
Each had their daily duty:
The bird fetched the scones,
The mouse brewed the tea,
And the sausage rolled about in the jam and cream until everything was extra buttery.
So their household was content.
But one day, the bird complained.
“It is unfair,” she said, “that I must always fetch the scones, while the sausage merely rolls about in cream. Let us swap our tasks, so all may be equal.”
The others agreed.
And from that moment, their doom was sealed.

The mouse went into town to fetch scones.
On the way back, struggling under enormous bags, she met a cat.
The cat licked its lips. “Two courses in one: mouse pie, followed by scone pudding.”
It gobbled her up on the spot. The mouse was tender; the scones, a little dry.

Meanwhile, the sausage tried to make the tea.
He leaned over the pot to taste — slipped — and fell straight into the boiling water.
His skin blistered. He shrieked. And he leapt out… directly into the flames.
The fire roared. The sausage was burnt to a crisp.

The bird took the sausage’s old task.
She rolled in the jam and cream, tasting as she went.
“Oh, this is delightful!” she chirped, eating more, and more, until her belly swelled.
She ate until she could eat no more.
Then she burst — feathers and jam flying across the room.
And so it came to pass that all three perished miserably.
Moral:
If you’re a mouse, drop the scones when chased by a cat.
If you’re a sausage, wear a safety harness when you taste tea.
If you’re a bird, do not mistake jam for destiny.
